چکیده

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance effect age on disease control in men who received high-dose intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nonmetastatic prostate cancer (NMPCa). NMPCa patients with favorable intermediate very high-risk features (National Comprehensive Cancer Network risk classification) treated IMRT at our institution between September 2000 and May 2011 were analyzed retrospectively. Treatment consisted (74–78 Gy/37–39 fractions) combined 6 months neoadjuvant hormonal therapy. Multivariable analysis using Fine Gray's regression model performed evaluate whether initiation associated biochemical failure (BF) castration-resistant (CRPC) progression. A total 367 analyzed. median follow-up period 8.8 years after IMRT. 5- 10-year BF rates 22.1 31.7%, those CRPC 4.5 12.6%, respectively. revealed that a younger (cut-off: 70 old) significantly correlated both higher rate (hazard ratio: 1.691, P= 0.0064) 2.579, P = 0.0079). Younger had increased risks IMRT, may benefit from more intensive treatments. Our findings should be further tested prospective studies.

Nonmetastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer

After the introduction of prostate cancer screening with the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, we have witnessed a dramatic stage migration. As a result, an increasing number of patients are diagnosed at earlier stages and receive local treatments including surgery or radiation. When these local treatments fail by the definition of increasing PSA levels, patients are usually treated with an...

Comparison of Radiobiological Models for Radiation Therapy Plans of Prostate Cancer: Three-dimensional Conformal versus Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy

Purpose: In the current study, using different radiobiological models, tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of radiotherapy plans were calculated for three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) of prostate cancer. Methods and Materials: 10 prostate plans were randomly selected among patients ...

Analysis of Hip Joint Dose in Prostate Cancer Radiation Therapy: A Dosimetric Comparison of Treatment Plans

Background and purpose: Radiation therapy as a part of cancer treatment is used in almost 50-60% of involved cases. In prostate cancer radiation therapy, a large volume of pelvis is irradiated, so, it is necessary to preserve sensitive organs around the treatment area, especially rectum and bladder. In this study, some dosimetric parameters such as minimum dose (Dmin), maximum dose (Dmax), mean...

Single Orbital Metastasis in Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer

Introduction: Orbital metastasis of prostate cancer (PC) is very rare and even more unique in castration-resistant PC (CRPC). In this scenario, choline positron emission tomography/computed tomography (choline PET/CT) is the gold-standard restaging method of choice available in our setting, and new anti-androgens treatments show improvement in overall survival. Case presentation: We report the...
